Sow mortality up this winter — PRRS variant going around?

We've had higher than normal sow deaths this winter — up about 1.8% from our usual 1.1%. Vet tested and came back with PRRS but said the strain looks different from what was circulating last year. Piglet pre-wean mortality is also up. Is anyone else seeing this? My neighbor 8 miles away is having the same problem. Wondering if we have a new variant moving through central Iowa.

Yes, we've been seeing elevated PRRS in Calhoun/Webster area. Iowa State Vet Diagnostic Lab is tracking it — worth sending samples in for sequencing to know what lineage you're dealing with.
